Birthday in Japan

I always love to go to Japan.   The opportunity to visit friends, the chance to further my study of the language and of course shopping is always a must. However,  this trip was special because it was my birthday.  I landed in Tokyo on the day of my birthday that was such a really great birthday present.   Further more when I got to Yokkaichi (which is a small city near Nagoya, Japan) my friends held a birthday party for me.   I was speechless; it was beyond anything I had expected.

During this trip I tried to visit as many friends as possible and I took a huge number of pictures which I wish to share with everyone.   I also met up with Carl Rosa of the Japan America Society of Houston, and assisted him in filming some of the fascinating aspects of Japan by being technical assistant and part-time Japanese translator.   Carl and I both love Japanese cuisine so we sampled several fine restaurants.   This was truly enjoyable and educational experience.   I look forward to seeing the finished version of the film he shot.   Finally, to all my friends I am deeply grateful for each of you making this birthday a very special one.

Pictures from Japan August 2008

On this trip I took over 500 pictures of various things. A really great thing about a digital camera is one picture or a million pictures it is the same price. After reviewing the pictures I have selected a subset of pictures which I think are interesting. I hope you enjoy them.
